Chemistry transition

Rethinking solvent-based industrial cleaning.

Solvent replacement works only when the replacement process works. blent develops water-based cleaning formulations and supports application-led evaluation for manufacturers looking to review established chemical cleaning processes.

What does solvent replacement actually mean?

It means replacing part or all of a defined cleaning process—not declaring that every use of a solvent can be eliminated. Acetone, MEK, toluene, xylene and other chemicals have different behaviours and applications. Cleaning chemistry must be considered against the actual residue and requirements, including the reasons a particular solvent is used today.

Why manufacturers review conventional solvent washes.

A site may be looking at handling classifications, consumption, air emissions, waste arrangements, equipment compatibility, cost or procurement complexity. Each is a separate question and requires its own evidence.

What an evaluation might cover.

01

Cleaning

Does the formulation remove the required residue under agreed conditions?

02

Process

Does it work with the existing or a feasible revised workflow?

03

Materials

Does it meet the necessary substrate and equipment compatibility requirements?

04

Operations

What are the implications for throughput, chemical consumption and waste management?

05

Documentation

What do current product classification and safety data say?

A considered alternative begins with a pilot.

We work with teams to define an honest test of technical fit. A positive outcome in one process is not a universal claim about any solvent.
