Frequently asked questions.

Can water-based cleaners replace acetone? What removes uncured resin or UV inks? Explore blent's industrial cleaning FAQs and pilot process.

Replacing solvents and cleaning residues

Can a water-based cleaner replace acetone for industrial cleaning?

Sometimes a process can be redesigned around a suitable water-based formulation, but suitability depends on the residue, equipment, substrate and wash conditions. blent evaluates defined acetone-based cleaning processes rather than assuming a drop-in replacement for every use.

What removes epoxy or polyester resin from industrial tools?

The answer depends heavily on whether the resin is uncured, partially cured or fully cured, and on the tool material and acceptable cleaning method. Tell us the resin system, cure state, current cleaner and equipment, so we can assess whether a blent formulation merits testing.

Can blent remove cured resin?

Do not assume this. Cured polymers may need different chemical, thermal or mechanical treatments from uncured residues. We would first establish the resin, surface and available evidence before discussing a test.

Is blent a green solvent?

Green solvent is a broad search term rather than a single technical classification. blent focuses on water-based industrial cleaning formulations. Whether a formulation reduces a particular impact compared with a solvent process depends on its composition, performance and full conditions of use; environmental claims need supporting evidence.

What can replace MEK, toluene or solvent-based wash-up?

There is no universal substitute. A replacement decision should consider the chemistry to be removed, process temperatures, material compatibility, cleaning time, product classifications and disposal requirements. We can review a defined cleaning application and determine whether a managed test is useful.

How are water-based cleaning formulations evaluated for UV ink cleaning?

A useful test considers the ink and coating system, equipment materials, application method, contact time, required cleanliness and any effect on rollers or blankets. blent assesses applications against agreed conditions; suitability is not assumed.

Will a water-based cleaner cost less than acetone?

Purchase price per litre is not enough to answer. Compare chemical volume consumed, dwell time, labour, equipment effects, changeover downtime, waste handling, replenishment frequency and the cost of meeting cleaning specifications. We discuss measured, application-specific costs rather than generic savings claims.

About blent and our products

What does blent do?

blent develops high-performance, water-based cleaning formulations for industrial applications. Our wider ambition is to help advance industrial chemistry through considered formulation, evidence-led performance and increasingly responsible sourcing.

What does “Making clean, clean” mean?

It expresses our belief that cleaning should be judged not only by the result on a surface or piece of equipment, but also by the chemistry and processes used to achieve it. It's a commitment to asking harder questions—not a blanket claim that every product has zero environmental or health impact.

Are blent products suitable for every industrial cleaning application?

No single formulation should be assumed to suit every use. Suitability depends on the material, contamination, operating conditions and technical requirements. We recommend an application-specific discussion and appropriate evaluation.

Are your products water-based?

Our current industrial cleaning focus is water-based formulations. Specific composition, classification and usage requirements depend on the product. Request current technical documentation for the formulation relevant to your application.

Are blent products non-toxic or hazard-free?

FRE-1X is non-hazardous, non-toxic, non-carcinogenic and non-flammable. Current product-specific safety documentation is available on request.

Are your formulations petrochemical-free?

Moving towards less reliance on conventional petrochemical inputs is part of our longer-term ambition. We do not claim that all current formulations are petrochemical-free.

Can blent demonstrate environmental improvements?

Claims of environmental improvement require a defined comparison, boundaries, suitable supporting evidence and clear qualifications. We'll discuss what information is available for the relevant formulation and application rather than relying on general labels.

Pilots, samples and documentation

Do you offer sample orders online?

Not at present. We review applications before determining whether sampling or a managed evaluation is appropriate.

How does a pilot work?

We discuss your application, agree an evaluation scope, arrange the appropriate testing and review the findings together. Any further steps depend on the results and separate arrangements.

How long does a pilot take, and how much does it cost?

Both depend on the application and the agreed scope. We'll discuss timings and any costs before work begins.

Can you provide a safety data sheet?

We can discuss the appropriate current product-specific safety documentation. Availability and the requirement to provide a safety data sheet depend on the product and relevant law. An SDS does not replace an employer's site-specific risk assessment.

Can you share customer case studies or test reports?

We share information subject to relevance, availability, confidentiality and technical approval. We don't publish customer-specific results without appropriate permission.

Do you work with research and manufacturing partners?

Yes, we're interested in relevant technical, sourcing, manufacturing and commercial conversations. Tell us what you're working on through our Partners page.
